Fulton County Jail To Begin Accepting City Prisoners On Monday

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is prepared to accept city detainees at its jail beginning Monday at 12:01 a.m. Under newly established procedures, persons arrested within the city limits and charged with state crimes by Atlanta or MARTA Police, will be brought directly to the Fulton County Jail. Persons charged and detained for city ordinance violations will continue to be processed through the Atlanta Detention Center.

Deputies and staff at the Fulton County Jail are preparing to accept an increase in the number of prisoners booked through its new intake facility, scheduled to open on Tuesday. In the days prior to accepting city detainees, the Fulton County Jail population remains under capacity.

Citizens who have questions regarding a specific inmate, or questions about bonding procedures are encouraged to visit the department’s web site at http://www.fultonsheriff.org. The site also includes detailed information on jail operation, visitations hours, directions, and a list of approved bonding companies.

For further information, please contact Sergeant Clarence Huber at (404) 730-4148 or Sergeant Nikita Adams-Hightower at (404) 730-6766.
