McNair Middle School Students To Graduate From Sheriff’s Office G.R.E.A.T. Program

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office will honor 340 students at Ronald E. McNair Middle School this Thursday, in celebration of their success in the Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program. After 13-weeks of classroom training, the seventh grade students at McNair are committed to avoiding the pressures associated with joining a gang.

Deputy Denise Bryant-Bennett of the Sheriff’s Office “Community Relations Section” taught the G.R.E.A.T. program at McNair. To help young teens better cope with the many challenges facing them in the world today, the G.R.E.A.T. program offers guidance and support in helping students to make positive choices. Under the leadership of a specially trained deputy, students act out a variety of scenarios requiring decision making skills. As a result of G.R.E.A.T., students are better equipped to deal with real-life situations.

In honor of their success, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office will host a graduation ceremony at the school on Thursday, February 27th, at 1:30 p.m. Graduating students will receive t-shirts and personalized Certificates of Accomplishment. Special awards will also be presented to selected students for outstanding achievement in the program.

McNair Middle School is located at 2800 Burdett Road in College Park.
