Sheriffs Office To Receive CALEA Re-Accreditation at National Conference, Saturday

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is expected to receive re-accreditation on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the national CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) Conference in Orlando, Florida. Following a CALEA on-site inspection in January, Fulton County Sheriff Jacquelyn H. Barrett will be on hand to accept the re-accreditation award at the “Hyatt Orlando” 6375 Irlo (Bronson Memorial Highway), in Orlando, tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. The awards banquet will be held in the Paradise Ballroom.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office was first accredited on March 25, 2000. In order to maintain its accreditation, the department is required to submit annual reports to CALEA, and undergo a departmental review and on-site inspection every three years.

During the January inspection, the department successfully met a total of 443 standards.

In addition to CALEA, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), and the American Correctional Association (ACA).
