With a new career path and dreams of a brighter future, thirteen (13)
inmates at the Fulton County Jail will graduate from the Sheriff’s
Office H.O.P.E. Learning Center program tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
The H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everyday) Learning Center, now in its
second year of operation, provides job skills and education opportunities to
inmates incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail. There are three programs
currently offered by the Hope Learning Center: Computer, Welding and
Culinary Arts. Fulton County Sheriff Jacquelyn H. Barrett
created the H.O.P.E. Learning Center in 2001. The program allows non-violent
offenders the opportunity to develop career skills during their
incarceration in the Fulton County Jail. Following tomorrow’s
graduation, many of the inmates will look forward to completing their
sentences and pursuing job opportunities. Some of the inmates will be
released in as early as three weeks. Job placement assistance will be
available. Graduates of the welding program will be referred to Atlanta
Technical College for continuing education. The H.O.P.E.
Learning Center is located at the Fulton County Jail. Visitors can access
the center at the jail intake entrance on Jefferson Street.
