With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, Sheriff Jacquelyn H. Barrett and
her staff take time to remember those in need. For the past two weeks,
Sheriff’s Department deputies and staff have been working to put together
nearly 150 turkey dinners for families who would otherwise go without on
Thanksgiving Day. While several of the collected food items were generously
donated by the local business community, hundreds of Sheriff’s Department
employees came together and contributed many of the non-perishable items.
Each holiday basket contains a frozen turkey and all the trimmings necessary
to top off a delicious holiday feast. Families in need of Thanksgiving
baskets are identified through the help of the Fulton County Department of
Family and Children Services. Sheriff Barrett started this annual
Thanksgiving tradition after taking office in 1993. Pictured above is
Sheriff Barrett and a few of the baskets ready for delivery.
