Sheriff Offers $1000 Reward For Information Leading To Apprehension of Fugitive
 

Sheriff Barrett is seeking the public’s help in locating fugitive James Cooper.

Cooper has been charged in the shooting death of John Atkins at his place of business in the West End Section of Atlanta. The Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force are actively searching for James Cooper at this hour. The Sheriff’s Department Executive Protection Unit is providing around-the-clock security to the family and witnesses in this case.

This incident has been a high priority for the Sheriff’s Department. The search for James Cooper will continue until he is apprehended.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department discovered that jail inmate James Cooper was released in error from the Fulton County Jail on December 3, 2003. Cooper, also known as Lamar Johnson, or “Coop”, is a black male, 27 years of age, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of James Cooper is urged to call the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department at (404) 730-5129.

Sheriff Barrett is offering a $1,000.00 cash reward for information leading to the apprehension of James Cooper.
