Police and Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect wanted for
carjacking following his release this morning from the Fulton County Jail.
The suspect, identified as Nathaniel Lee Stanley, was processed out of jail
at 3:20 a.m. and is accused of carjacking an Atlanta pretrial employee in
the jail parking lot just moment after his release. Stanley
was arrested on January 8, 2004 on charges of driving with a suspended
license, expired tag and violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.
He was released from jail this morning after the charges against him were
dismissed in court. According to the victim and witnesses,
Stanley approached the employee in the jail parking lot, forced his way into
her vehicle and began making threats. Both the driver and a passenger in the
vehicle were able to escape unharmed. Stanley is described as
a white male, 6’4”, weighing 275 pounds with red hair and green eyes. He is
driving a 1996 green Ford Explorer with Georgia Tag 5817AJA
