A Fulton County Deputy was relieved of duty last Thursday, following an
internal investigation of inappropriate conduct involving his sworn duties
as a peace officer. Deputy Melvin Clark, 44, of Lithia Springs was placed
under investigation earlier this month following complaints of an alleged
relationship with a female inmate at the county jail. Deputy Clark was later
terminated for violating his oath of office and fraternizing with known
criminals. The case is now being referred to the Fulton County District
Attorneys Office for further review. Deputy Clark has been employed by the
Fulton County Sheriff’s Office since March 28, 2001.
