After taking office this morning, Fulton County Interim Sheriff Theodore
Jackson has appointed Major Michael Cooke to the position of Chief Deputy of
the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Cooke assumes the office
vacated by former Chief Deputy Caudell Jones who retired on July 13th.
As second-in-command, Chief Cooke will be working closely with the newly
appointed Interim Sheriff. Cooke, 45, joined the Fulton County Sheriff’s
Office on January 12, 1984. Chief Cooke is extremely knowledgeable of
the day-to-day operations of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Until
his appointment today, Chief Cooke was the Division Commander of the
department’s Office of Professional Standards (OPS), which conducts
employment backgrounds and Internal Affairs investigations. Prior to that,
Chief Cooke served as the Administrative Major over other Sheriff’s
Office divisions including; Personnel, Warrant/Service Division, and
Jail Bureau. Sheriff Jackson will introduce Chief Cooke and
